Climb the hills, savour the views, and let Tuscany steal your heart—one mile at a time!
We'll begin our adventure by taking on the rolling Pisan hills, notably passing through Lajatico, birthplace of Andrea Bocelli! Rolling hills give way to longer climbs as we head towards the town of Camporbiano, the high point of our day, offering sublime panoramic views!
As we wind up our day we'll get our first glimpse of the historic town of Monteriggioni, one final climb will get us up to our evening stop over.
Today we'll be heading out towards Radda in Chianti. A short, flat section to start the day gives way to the legendary ridge line climbs through dense oak forests and sundrenched vineyards. Up on the tops we'll be treated to sweeping vistas and stiff climbs.
The route ends with a breath taking descent back down to our hotel.
Today we'll be heading to Pienza, cycling through medieval stone walls and the by now familiar mixture of vineyards and forests, and sailing past the historic town of Siena on our way.
We'll be seeing an all together different type of scenery as we pass through the lunar like clay hills of Crete Senesi, before the final challenging hills that take us into Pienza.
Our next exploratory loop route takes us right through the cinematic heart of the Val D'orcia, a region so beautiful it was used as the back drop for many films, including the English patient and Gladiator.
Leaving base, we'll head towards Castelluccio, with the landscape of wheat fields and rolling hills opening up for us, as we then head towards the towering skyscape of Montepulciano's ancient walls, before making our way back to Pienza.
We move bases again today, heading back towards Siena. We'll start the ride with a fast descent! The first climb of the day will then take us up to the ancient fortified walls of San Quirco, and we'll follow the course of the Omborne and Arbia rivers, before passing through Buonconvento, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
The day will end with a long climb up to the outskirts of Siena. Once you've settled into the hotel, you'll have the opportunity to soak up the atmosphere and explore the highlights of this incredible city including the Piazza del Campo and the Siena Cathedral.
We'll end our tour where we began in Casciani Terme. A fairly gentle start to the day will give way to the challenging climb up to Volterra. which offers dramatic views along wonderful switch back roads.
The descent is glorious as we make our way to La Sterza - this remote part of Tuscany is just such a joy to ride a bike! The tour will end with one last set of rolling hills, ensuring that our legs will have earned some rest in this glorious spa town!
